technical gripes:

when they shoot at 24fps but then encode the video at 30fps, so every 5th frame is a repeat of the previous one, making the video look slightly choppy for absolutely no reason. a lot of people probably don't notice this but my eyes are trained to spot it, and it's shockingly common
(hell, why are they shooting at 24fps anyway? this isn't cinema, just shoot at 30 or 60 you idiots)

badly encoded videos in general with noticeable compression artifacts. Mike Adriano is probably the worst offender because even his "high quality" uploads look like pure trash despite having massive file sizes. he seems to shoot in a compressed format but export the edit in a high-bitrate so you get the worst of both worlds. the files will be like 5gb but look like a .wmv from 2006

videos that are super grainy/noisy despite having plenty of light in the scene, I swear some of these dipshits think higher ISO = better or something. the moron who shoots for FTVgirls is an egregious example of this, his scenes will be simultaneously noisy and overexposed, pure incompetence

your original is in 4:3 aspect ratio, why oh why are you cropping the image and releasing it in some weird fucked up ratio somewhere between 16:9 and 4:3?

yeah I saw a 1080p "remaster" of a Kink.com scene that looked worse than the original 720p version, now I gotta wonder if they're all like that

& on some sites the 4K versions look worse than 1080p due to over-compression. I noticed this recently with DickDrainers where the 4K files are roughly the same size as the 1080p... so I downloaded both to compare frames and the 1080p had more detail 🤦‍♂️

yes. I have found old wmv versions of scenes which are higher quality than new mp4 releases. Because they take those wmv and reencode in lower quality then reupload to their new site

You can never trust that a new version is better than an old one.


Another gripe I have is sites that release two versions of a scene: a high resolution at low FPS and lower resolution at high FPS.
bro thats not "high quality" and "low quality", thats just two different versions of the scene both shitty in their own way. they do this to save file size, but still annoying af


A third gripe I have is sites which reupload their scenes at lower quality to reduce bandwidth usage and remove the old versions. So its impossible to get the old high quality versions

I run into this problem a lot when a scene is uploaded to both Onlyfans and Fansly. because OF encodes almost all videos to 24fps (I could go on a whole rant about how much I hate Onlyfans for this), while Fansly maintains the original framerate but encodes videos with a super low bitrate so they look awful.

at least Manyvids lets you download the original quality but a lot of independent creators aren't on there and only use these trash subscription sites that ruin the quality of their content

One thing that's been getting to me lately is scene length. They're too long. It's been bad for a bit with scenes in the 50-60 minute range but lately it seems like I've been pulling ones that are in the 90-120 minute range. It gets excessive and bogged down when they stay in each position for 20 minutes. Tighten the scenes back up and keep them moving.

What scenes are you watching that are that long?????
On OnlyFans they are usually no longer than 15 minutes if you are lucky. Mainstream is usually 30-40 with a 10 minute intro

VR scenes are the main culprits. I've been watching them a lot lately. They get these huge run times when there's more than one girl in them. They have to have each girl in every position for way too long. It's my biggest complaint with VR. The medium is great but I don't think the production companies fully know how to shoot them yet.

I've been on a Meana Wolf kick too. Her scenes can run pretty long. I love her look and dirty talk though.

Honestly, it's mixed. To me, it's another option now but not the sole option. I don't want POV 100% of the time. It's nice looking like you're the center of attention at times though. I also like that I can look at what I want (penetration, her boob, faces, etc) and don't have to put up with stupid cameramen focusing on something stupid.

Realistic looking depends on what you have and the video. When I bought my Quest 1 4 years ago and all of the videos were like 1080p the quality wasn't there. I have an Apple Vision Pro now (day job is developer in Apple's ecosystem) and it with a good quality 6-8k video looks fantastic. You almost see too much detail at times. Stuff like skin blemishes not being fuzzed out from resolution isn't always the best. ;)

I do that with regular porn but not as much with VR. Scrubbing through the video does not work as well in it as on the desktop. Controls are a bit more finicky and not as precise. It's harder to hit a specific time stamp. The player I'm currently using, Moon, has a 15s skip button and I use that a bunch instead. So it's usually a slow skip to the next bit of action.
