While HDDs aren't watertight, you would have to truly spill an ungodly amount of water on a laptop to make the HDD stop working & even still water on a HDD doesn't "destroy the data" on the platters.
And if it's just water damage on the motherboard...literally any repair shop can fix that, you don't get a "replacement part" they just clean the board & resoldered stuff, 5 minutes on any Louis Rossmann video would prove that right, lmfao.
