Look into the psychology of donating i guess. People donate ( pay ) without getting anything in return essentially when donating. Most of the time, it is just a self glorification thing where they want to be seen as generous, kind and so on. Then there are also the cases where they donate to easy their conscience, so that they can trick themselves into thinking they are making the world a better place and they are better people thanks to that.
